A Mere Scintilla by Ali Znaidi

The night is a curtain

that doesn’t belong to you.

You always pretend

that this curtain is your own property.

But, in fact, this curtain enshrouds you

and all the creatures.

Not a shred of evidence that this curtain renders you

a mere scintilla.—A tiny dwarf

waiting for aurorean lights.

But, it is really too late to wait

because you have already dwarfed yourself

when you pretended that the night is your own property.
